Despite the forecast for rain, yesterday turned out to be perfect beach weather at Mona Vale, apart from being occasionally sandblasted. Considering I hadn’t been to the beach here on a sunny day in months, it was a good sanity break. However, the best bit came a short while later, when I took a break from the beach to go get lunch, and wound up in a surf shop next door, buying a used 7’2″ surfboard and a shorty wetsuit, and spent the next couple hours catching a few waves. The water was freezing (thanks apparently to a recent Antarctic current), but the wetsuit did the job, and the gently breaking 3 foot swells were an absolutely perfect way to start off.
Only a year late, but I’m finally starting to do some of the things I’d intended to do when I moved here.
