Winy rock isn’t all emo

Posted: June 5, 2006 in Uncategorized

Other than a very successful birthday party Friday night and sadly unsuccessful attempt to mow my lawn today, the highlight of the weekend was the Secret House winery concert on Saturday. The weather was warm and even sunny early on, and made for perfect beer drinking weather, but as the evening came so did the rain, which just meant we switched to wine.

Among a bevy of northwest bands was my friend Blake’s band Northwest Royale, who kicked out another solid show. Also playing was a one-man-band named That 1 Guy, who drew the largest crowd of the day for playing a hell of a set on everything from metal pipes to an electric cowboy boot. And I do not mean that figuratively in any way. Finally was the headlining pair, Presidents and Everclear. Presidents rocked just as hard as they did at the WOW, but Everclear was so unremarkable that we didn’t even stay through the first song.

The topper for the evening: after sighting special making-some-extra-money-because-my-agent-said-so guest Ron Jeremy, Lucy wandered over to collect an autograph and came away with the porn king’s John Hancock on both her shirt and her cleavage.
