Abroad for any occasion

Posted: November 15, 2005 in Uncategorized

In lieu of my usual workday lunchtime ritual of eating at my desk while trying to ignore anyone trying to catch my attention, I drove to the post office today and submitted my application for a passport.

So, in 4-6 weeks, I should be legally able to board that plane, leaving behind a wastebin of shattered dreams and broken promises for the dangerous back streets of Shanghai, the dark cafes of Morrocco, or the deepest depths of the Amazon.

Or I’ll just use it to go snowboarding in Canada and take some vacations overseas.

Morroccos cafes are quite airie and Shanghai is actually decently safe if you know what youre doing..
    congrats on your passport!

Yes, but that doesn’t make for NEARLY as dramatic prose. “I left behind the shattered pieces of my life, wandering through the spacious and pleasant cafes of Morrocco, the generally safe and non-threatening back alleys of Shanghai.”
Just doesn’t have the same ring.
