No matter how much I listen to Pink Floyd with an open mind and appreciation for musical creativity, it never fails to come off as utterly boring. I’m talkin almost on par with Steely Dan. I mean, good lyrics, good musical talent, but no matter what I’m doing when it comes on, I find myself nodding off.
Perhaps I just have a general aversion to 70s and 80s UK pop drug culture.

Ya, though I can be in the mood for the Dead now and again. But I generally can’t listen to “jam bands” for any significant length of time.

With the exception of 1 or 2 tracks when I’m in the right mood, Pink Floyd does nothing at all for me. Totally boring!

i think you had to have had an experience in the right frame of mind to get it. I like certin albums (Dead, pink floyd etc) because they evoke powerful memories for me. it speaks to a time and a place in my life i would not want to repeat but those are some of the most important things that made me who i am today. I shared that music with some of the most important people in my life. i however do not get Rush. I never have and never will.

except for Pink Floyd’s ‘Animals’ album……..that is an odd classic, sort of like the Doors’ ‘American Prayer’
