Petroglyph carved into the Lower Gorge wall

A good overall weekend soaking in the summer, which displaced a large amount of sweat in the process. Between bushwhacking, lots of hiking in and out of gorges, and chasing the shade, I got a few climbs in at a virtually empty Smith. While the climbing was awesome, my favorite moment was probably standing barefoot and shirtless on a rock outcropping overlooking the gorge, watching the setting sun paint the Marsupials a glowing orange, smelling the sun-beaten sage and water on the breeze. These are the moments we recall when we yearn for summer to return.

Amazingly, it’s not a drawing, it’s carved into the rock in Lower Gorge, and apparently has been for over 15 years…
