Some people say there is no sense in regretting the past. I have to disagree. To me, there is no sense in dwelling on regrets, but regret can often drive us strive further than we normally would, knowing we had passed the opportunity before and wished we hadn’t.

At this point in my life, I regret not being on the rock climbing team my sophomore year in highschool (yes, my highschool that year had a rock climbing team). Not only would I have been doing some sweet bouldering in Ojai, but I also would’ve joined them on their trip to Joshua Tree. There are actually a number of things I regret not doing that year, but when it came down to it, time and forethought simply weren’t on my side. But I do take solace in the knowledge that I did more in those 9 months than I had in years, and would for years to come.
